Rag and Bone
Rag and Bone Morris are a team of younger morris dancers who re-instill this ancient artform with its traditional energy and vigour. We dance the traditional dances of Bledington, Longborough, Bampton and Bucknell, primarily as a form of street performance.
We are a mixed side (girls and boys) and our dancers currently range between the ages of 22 and 33.
Consecration
Traditionally these dances have provided a focal point for the communities in which they were danced, and were danced in the places where people mingled: markets, pubs, churchyards, the village green. Public performance like this is vitally important now more than ever, as public spaces are increasingly being claimed for cars and advertising, and people are increasingly retreating into their own iPod worlds.
